Last month we brought you the news that the Full Pint brand was returning to Pittsburgh, and now we have even more details to share.

As you may know, the original Full Pint closed last March, after filing for bankruptcy earlier in the year.  Now the brand is back, under new ownership, and ready to re-release beer under the Full Pint brand (some old favorites, and some new).

We spoke with Full Pint owners Carrie and Dan Franklin, as well as brewer Jim Simmons, to get the details on the brand, the beer, and a new location.

Full Pint will be keeping the original location on RT 30 in North Versailles, but will not be opening this space until it makes sense. (More on locations below) While they have kept mostly everything that was there, improvements have been made to streamline operations. In 3.5 months, they have disassembled the 15 bbl brewery, put in a new floor, and also rebuilt the glycol system. A brand new mash tun has been added for bigger mashes, and a filter press has also been installed. They have also added a brand new canning line to the location.

The brewery has also undergone a major rebranding of its logo and labels, to revitalize everything. As co-owner Dan Franklin says, “our goal is to return Full Pint to the dominant, regional brewery it once was.” Dan continues, “We are excited to bring back some original Full Pint beers such as White Lightning and Chinookie, to name a few, and to also bring in newer styles that round out our offerings.”

We learned that Full Pint plans to get back to having taps at many local bars and restaurants around Pittsburgh. They want to fill the void of local beer at a large number of locations, and plan to use some of their core beers to do that (think White Lightning, Chinookie, Clearly Cloudy). Dan told Breweries In PA, “we see the opportunity in Pittsburgh and want to be a go-to choice for beer fans. We want to have our beers widely available at both on-premise and off-premise establishments.”

Locations

The original North Versailles brewery and taproom location will not currently open to the public. They are hoping to get this open sometime in the future.

However, a brand new North Hills location will be opening for the brand. Located at 16087 Perry Highway in the North Hills neighborhood Warrendale, Full Pint will operate this as a store right now, serving fresh cans of their beer. In the future, they are looking to build this out into a taproom, and utilize two separate locations for beer fans.

Beers

Beer fans can expect a wide variety of styles from the new ownership of Full Pint. Dan was a homebrewer for 20+ years, producing many 1 bbl batches. Jim Simmons has been a professional brewer in Pittsburgh for quite a while now, working at 412 Brewing, Couch Brewing, and will now Full Pint. There will be a mix of lagers from Dan, some IPAs, pastry stouts, and fruited sours from Jim, and some original Full Pint beers.

• White lightening – 6% Belgian-style white ale
• Chinookie – (available in about a week) – 7.1% west-coast IPA
