Some breweries are solely focused on the beer. Others? They’ve got stories steeped into the walls, wild histories in the soil, and buildings that feel like characters themselves. We’ve been on the hunt for spots where the setting is just as interesting as what’s in your glass—and we found exactly that at Lost Time Brewing Company.

Mighty Mick’s Boxing Gym is one of the most iconic landmarks from the Rocky film franchise, often prompting fans to ask if it was ever a real gym. While the building is located in Philadelphia, the truth is that Mighty Mick’s never functioned as an actual boxing gym. The recognizable structure served only as a façade; the interior training scenes were filmed at different locations.

Located in the Kensington section of Philadelphia, the building now serves as the home of Lost Time Brewing Company, which held its grand opening on Friday, November 8, 2024. After operating pop-ups across the city, the brewery has settled into the former site of Mighty Mick’s Gym, transforming it into a tasting room.

The building itself dates back to 1910 and has seen several transformations over the decades. In the early 2000s, it even operated as a Dollar Plus store. Renovations that began in 2021 transformed it into a mixed-use property featuring a commercial space on the ground floor and residential apartments above.

It became legendary after Rocky (1976) depicted the gritty gym where Mickey Goldmill trained fighters. The gym’s run-down appearance symbolized Rocky’s humble beginnings and set the tone for his underdog journey.
