An iconic event within the Pittsburgh craft beer scene makes it’s triumphant return after a two-year hiatus. The ‘East End Brewing Pedal Pale Ale Keg Ride’ has been a staple event within the community since 2005. The day celebrates the arrival of “Pittsburgh’s Spring Cycling Season by delivering the season’s first kegs of Pedal Pale Ale… by bicycle”
This charitable event supports a different beneficiary each year. Time, glassware, and beer are donated to the cause. In 2022 100% of the proceeds will support the brewery’s Larimer neighbors at Jeremiah’s Place, an organization providing housing and support for children and families in need.
During the event, riders pull FULL KEGS of beer by bicycle to a MYSTERY DESTINATION, and then the brewery buys a round for everyone when they arrive. The more riders they have, the more kegs they have to pull. As you might imagine, when following a guy pulling a 170lb half barrel on a bike, the pace is slow and gentle, mostly hill-free, and limited to 8-12 miles.
They have a great mystery destination lined up for this year, fully equipped so you can stick around for another beer and have a bite to eat while you enjoy some live music!
Hopping on a bike and taking a ride won’t be the only reason to celebrate. East End believes that bikes and beers are an awesome combination – especially in that order. They believe that so much that they have been brewing their Pedal Pale Ale with the idea of the perfect post bike ride beer since back in 2005. And this event will be your first chance to enjoy the beer in 2022!
