Major League Baseball is back, and Opening Day is April 8th. What goes well with baseball? Beer of course!
We rounded up some baseball-themed Pennsylvania beers for you to enjoy the games with.
Burgh’ers Brewing – 1890 Lager
Burgh’ers Brewing pays homage to Pittsburgh’s very first baseball team, the “Pittsburgh Burghers”. They only played one year in 1890, and then became the Pirates. This crisp 4.7% American light lager is perfect for those hot days watching the bullpen try to hold the lead. This beer is available in cans.
Evil Genius – There’s No Crying In Baseball (IPA)
Evil Genius brings this one back every season, and it’s hard not to keep repeating the line from A League of Their Own. This Mango IPA clocks in at 6% and is hopped with Amarillo, Vic Secret, and Mosaic. This beer is available in cans & bottles.
Four Fingers – High Hops (Bullpen Session IPA)
Four Fingers has released High Hops as a “Bullpen Session IPA”. We can’t imagine throwing a baseball straight after a few of them. This beer is one you’ll want to try, and at 5.2% ABV, you can enjoy a few.
Locust Lane – Game Day IPA
Locust Lane seasonally releases Game Day IPA, and you will want to grab it. This 5.8% American IPA is loaded with Citra, Chinook, and Lemondrop hops, and makes for a crushable beer during those long innings. This beer is available in cans, and can be shipped.
McCall Collective Brewing – Hittin’ Dingers (Berliner Weisse)
This 6% abv Berliner Weisse has raspberry and was brewed with lemon peel and lactose. This beer is available in cans.
Newtown Brewing – Juuust A Bit Outside (Fruited Sour Ale)
“Juuust a Bit Outside” is a 6.6% fruited sour ale kettle soured with Lactobacillus and conditioned on Madagascar Vanilla Bean and a load of Peach and Passion Fruit purees. This “wild thing” is a tart, refreshing brew perfect for watching the ball game.
Recon Brewing – Ease His Pain (DIPA)
With the 2nd release of Recon’s “Beers of Dreams” Series, Ease His Pain is 7.4% Double Hazy IPA, double dry-hopped with Idaho 7 and Strata hops. Another solid baseball movie reference, “Ease His Pain” makes us want to go watch Field of Dreams a few more times. This beer is available on draft.
Second Sin Brewing – Home Phield Advantage (IPA) & Lil’ Slugger (Lager)
Second Sin went all-in on baseball season once again, this time releasing two different beers. Home Phield Advantage returns and is a 6.7% DDH NEIPA with 4 collectible labels, and newcomer Lil’ Slugger enters the mix as a 4.1% American Light Lager. Both beers are available in cans.
ShuBrew – Shu’s On First Czech Pils
This 5.7% Czech Pilsner is heavily hopped with Chech Saaz and is available at the Butler County brewery in both cans and on draft. The beer pays homage to the extremely famous Abbott and Costello “Who’s On First” skit.
Sly Fox Beer – Slugger (Pilsner)
Sly Fox brewed this crispy 5.2% unfiltered pilsner just for baseball season. They also made sure to make it with two labels, one each for the Phillies and Pirates. Grab either of them in cans!
Ten7 Brewing – Big Hoppi (Triple IPA)
Crushing the high heat, Big Hoppi is a 11% triple IPA. Brewed with Kohatu, Motueka, Cashmere, and Citra, this tropical mix is delicious. If you know Ten7’s triples, the ABV is hidden well. Grab this in cans at the brewery, or get it shipped anywhere in PA!
