Ambler-based Forest & Main Brewing, known for its English-style ales and farmhouse saisons, officially opened its new taproom in Fishtown on October 17th. Located at 1416 Frankford Avenue, the space was formerly home to Cheu Noodle Bar and even served as a police horse stable in its earlier days. This marks Forest & Main’s first expansion outside of Ambler, bringing their craft beer excellence to one of Philadelphia’s most vibrant neighborhoods.

The new taproom isn’t just about beer. Forest & Main has teamed up with James Beard-nominated chef Dane DeMarco, known for their work at Haddonfield’s Gass & Main, to curate a food menu that complements the brewery’s offerings. Guests can expect a “snack‑shack” style menu, with bold flavors, including one of DeMarco’s famously loaded burgers.

The taproom features Czechoslovakian Lukr side-pull faucets, a nod to traditional European beer service, and offers both indoor and outdoor seating options. With its unique architecture, the space feels like a natural extension of the brewery’s ethos—inviting, imaginative, and deeply rooted in craft.

Forest & Main Brewing Co. was founded in 2012 by friends Daniel Endicott and Gerard Olson, who set up their brewery in a cozy, converted Victorian house at the corner of Forest and Main Streets. Over the years, Forest & Main expanded its production footprint. In 2021, the team relocated brewing operations to a larger facility on North Main Street in Ambler, enabling increased barrel-aging capacity and lager programs.
