Hitchhiker Brewing Opening Beer And Coffee Taproom In Downtown Pittsburgh

As was recently reported by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Hitchhiker Brewing is in the process of opening a taproom in Downtown Pittsburgh which will feature coffee and beer exclusively.

In 2019 the Pittsburgh brewery launched its very own coffee brand. They are now taking their coffee offerings up a notch by opening a space that will expand on both their coffee and beer selection.

“Owner Gary Olden wants to specialize in foamy, cold-brewed coffee served cold with an infusion of nitrogen. The place also will sell warm drip coffee and espresso drinks, especially when the weather is cold. Then, around noon, service will transition more to beer, though coffee will still be available.” the Post-Gazette reports.

The space, which will be located at 604 Liberty Avenue, offers a very unique look at 13 feet wide and over 70 foot deep. The brewery has hired the team at Lab 8 Designs to craft a unique look that fits the Hitchhiker brand.

The breweries plan for coffee expands beyond their current offerings. “Mr. Olden says the plan is for Hitchhiker to become a ‘toll roaster’ — buying its own coffee beans and other raw materials and using 19 Coffee’s roaster to make Hitchhiker coffees” the Gazette reports.

The plan is for new location to sell warm drip coffee and espresso early in the morning, and then offering their beer closer to the afternoon. Joining the may different breweries who offer both options.

604 Liberty Ave is still being constructed, to keep up with the progress follow Hitchhiker on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Continue to check back as we provide updates.
