Please join us offering the folks at Mad Chef Craft Brewing a big congratulations as they expand their brewing and taproom operations in East Petersburg. We recently spoke with brewery co-owner Greg Kendig who explained the expansion in more detail.

The brewery has taken possession of the space next to them which will allow them to operate in a 7,500 square foot space which will increase the brewery’s seating capacity to 250 (indoor/outdoor, post-COVID).

As was shared with us, the expansion will happen in three phases (which we highlight below). The brewery is currently in phase one; which includes opening the wall between the two spaces to create one large unified taproom and brewery.

Phase two of the expansion (late summer/early fall 2021) includes the growth of the brewing system itself. Mad Chef plans to move their brewing equipment from where it currently sits, into the new space. This will allow them to also upgrade from their current 7 barrel brewhouse to a 15 barrel. Along with this, the brewery will also expand to three 15, and five 7 barrel fermenters. The additional space will even allow the brewery to introduce its own canning line (which is not in the immediate plans but planned for the future).

And finally, phase three (late fall/early winter 2021) will involve the kitchen itself. If you have ever been to Mad Chef, or have read our reviews on them, you know how well known they have become for their food offerings. Phase three of the plan includes expanding the current kitchen into where the existing brewery currently sits. This expansion will allow them even more room to produce their mouth-watering options. Which includes the eventual installation of a brick oven pizza and expanded menu.
