Meyers Brewing Company will open this summer of 2021 in the Fishtown neighborhood of Philadelphia, at 436 East Girard Avenue, at the former home of Kurant Cider.
We recently talked with owner Mike Meyers to learn more about the brand, their beer, and the history of the location. Mike told us the taproom has been redesigned from when craft drinkers last saw it.

Family History & Building
Mike’s family history includes Meyers Dairies which his great great grandfather opened in the late 1800s and was family operated until the 1940s in Ambler, PA. They operated out of an old horse carriage manufacturing plant. Once he discovered this, he knew the brewery would be a great fit inside an 1880s carriage house right in Fishtown. It is with this theme, that Meyers designed the location for, and he’s calling it an “modern farmhouse feel”.
Taking the same logo and adding “brewing” just felt right to Mike, as he says, “it makes sense to me that my great great grandfather operated a business in an old horse carriage manufacturing plant, and now here I am about to operate a brewery out of a carriage house. How cool is that?”
Brewery & Taproom
Beer fans will see a familiar face in the brewery, as Cortney Costa is the head brewer. She will be brewing on a 3.5 bbl brewhouse, putting beer out to 12 taps in the taproom. The taproom can seat roughly 50 people, and Mike told us the upstairs will be used as well, for people to spread out and play games. There’s room out front for craft beer fans to enjoy themselves, with 5 tables on the sidewalk/street.
With the modern farmhouse inside, Mike has said they plan to serve out of wide-mouthed milk bottles, with smaller bottles utilized for flights of 4. He also has been collecting lots of Meyers Dairy memorabilia from the past, and that will be on display around the taproom too.
Beer
Meyers Brewing will open with 6 taps to start, and the beer styles they will be serving are as follows: double IPA, northeast IPA, Meyers milk stout, witbier, grapefruit sour, and a pale ale. Their goal is to make a wide variety of styles and make a little something for everyone. They also plan to offer crowlers to offer a to-go option for beer fans as well.
The brewery is aiming to be open by the end of June/early July to share its new beers with beer fans. All their licensing is done and they are just putting the final touches on a few things, as well as honing in their recipes.
Make sure you follow Meyers Brewing on Facebook and Instagram and visit them when they open. Breweries In PA will follow up once there is a date set for the Grand Opening.
