Second Sin Brewing To Expand With New Taproom In Newtown

Second Sin Brewing first opened in November 2019, in Bristol, PA, with a 5 BBL brewhouse.

In a short time, they have quickly become a go-to brewery for regular can releases and a great draft selection. The brewery consistently ranks in the Top 10 Breweries In Pennsylvania According to Untappd, as well as beer lists, and our Readers Choice Awards.

Second Sin has just announced they’re expanding with a new taproom in Newtown at 17 N State Street. They have also just renewed their lease for the Bristol brewery location, so no worries if you think they’re leaving the area!

We recently spoke with Mike Beresky and Jake Howell of Second Sin. Read our conversation on the new expansion!

BIPA: Can you describe the new space you are opening?

Mike/Jake: We are opening a taproom in a 1,400 sq/ft building that used to be a “board and brush”. Our plan is to have seating for about 50-60c which includes about 12-15 at an L-shaped 22-foot bar. We will also have a more extensive all-PA cocktail menu and some wines.

We will have at least 12 taps, with some side pulls, a few TVs in the taproom, and a lounge area up front near the big windows.

Food trucks will be scheduled for this location, and there are a lot of great local places that customers can pick up from, or get delivery.

BIPA: Will you release crowlers/cans there as well?

Mike/Jake: We will do both. There will be some beers specific to Newtown as well, but most of the cans will be available at both locations. For release we sell four packs, then fill crowlers once they’re gone.

BIPA: Is there a timeline of when the space will open?

Mike/Jake: We are shooting for a rough ETA of December to be open. Our license allows us to do pop-ups, so will hold some of those there, and around town. Also, some pop-ups will be held with our friends at Calm Waters Coffee.

BIPA: Anything else our readers should know about Second Sin?

Mike/Jake: We want people to know that we aren’t leaving Bristol, and in fact, we just renewed our lease there recently! Newtown is a town we’ve looked at a lot. It was one of the spots we looked at for the original taproom. We are excited to have a new location there and be a part of the community.
