Space Cadet Brewing Company Is Taking Off In The Philly Beer Scene

There’s a new face in Philly-area craft beer, and he’s wearing a space helmet.

Space Cadet Brewing Company is the brainchild of longtime brewer Richie Tevlin. The brewery is bringing limited-run beers to bars and bottle shops, with distribution currently covering Philadelphia, Bucks, Montgomery, Delaware, Chester, Berks, Lehigh, and Northampton counties.

Operating as a contract brewer out of the Philadelphia suburbs, Tevlin is focused on low-ABV, hop-forward beers (between 5.5% and 7%) with constantly changing recipes.

Every release comes in cans wrapped with a single-panel comic featuring the brewery’s astronaut mascot. And once it’s gone, it’s gone for good.

The name “Space Cadet” comes from a Philly sports meme, but it’s grown into a full brand identity built around character and connection. “Philly loves its personalities,” Tevlin says, “and I wanted something people could follow and root for.” The Space Cadet character became the centerpiece as part mascot and part alter ego, guiding the brewery’s visual identity and storytelling.

Space Cadet’s growth is happening fast. Production has already doubled in the past 10 months, with plans to scale again in the next year and eventually open a Philadelphia taproom, possibly with a kitchen partner.

To do this, they are currently looking for interested investors as well. Send Richie a message here if you are!
