St. Boniface Stands By Decision To Host Mid Atlantic Reformation Society; Says They Reject All Forms Of Hate

If you are unaware, on June 23rd a group called The Mid Atlantic Reformation Society is set to host an event at the Tied House in Lititz, which is owned by St. Boniface Craft Brewing.

The primary goal of the organization, as they describe, is to “exhortation by education—helping individuals break unbiblical thinking patterns. Our presentations are intended to show that a biblical view on various matters may be outside the comfortable status quo.”

The event, which is titled “Should We Want An Explicitly Christian State”, has drawn many in the online community to lash out negatively at the brewery. What has gotten some angriest is the host organization being tied to white nationalist/ hate speech. The organization’s news aggregator, Christendom Press, has online publications using language derogatory towards the LGBTQI+ community.

In response to the backlash online, the brewery posted the following on social media. (Update: since writing this they have deleted the social media post). Which goes on to read:

we are being asked to discriminate against his group by people groups who continually promote inclusion.

“I am sure that many have noticed that Pennsylvania itself has strong Christian roots that extend back to its founding. Indeed many people in our community would even consider themselves to be Christians who believe and live by what are considered to be “Biblical principles.” Being that the county itself has hundreds of churches, we were woefully unaware that living by and promoting that standard of living is considered to be “extremist behavior,” please forgive us for that oversight.

Our company believes in inclusivity for everyone, including Christians. We reject all forms of white nationalism, racism, bigotry and homophobia.

As of this writing, and as you can see in the post above, there are no plans to cancel the event by the brewery. Rather Tied House is offering the organization a platform to speak in the belief that “Pennsylvania itself has strong Christian roots.

Update 1:34 PM:

Since originally posting this, the following screenshots from one of the speakers of the event have been shared with us

May be an image of 2 people and text that says 'Chris Hume Feb 17 17 I do not recognize the LGBT-alphabet soup as a "community, anymore than I would recognize the "fornicator community." They are simply people who are promoting sin.'
