Tattered Flag has announced they are assisting in gathering items for Ukraine.

The brewery was moved to start this collection, as they have kept in contact with a former Ukrainian employee Iryna. She shared a list of items that Ukrainian people desperately need (see the link below).

This is an Amazon wishlist, however, you can still support them by buying items wherever, and donating them. Items from the Amazon list will go to a collection point in New York to ship out to Ukraine, and Tattered Flag will be a collection point, with items being sent from there to New York. People can drop items off at TF’s Middletown, Lancaster, Grantville (casino), and Gettysburg locations to support.

Help us help! Our longtime regulars will remember Iryna (first picture). She’s a former staff member of ours who moved home to her native Ukraine a few years ago. Since the Russian invasion began, we have been in almost daily contact with her. She sent us a list of items the Ukrainian people desperately need (the link will be at the bottom of this post). The items on the list might shock you. There are many places collecting money or donating a portion of proceeds…and that’s wonderful…but Iryna tells us that their most immediate needs are on this list. She also sent us a few photos. The 2nd photo shows civilians in hiding and the 3rd is a kindergarten classroom.

Here’s how you can help! If you order directly from the Amazon list, the items will be shipped directly to volunteers in New York (address is just outside the city in New Jersey) who are organizing and shipping them to Ukraine. But Tattered Flag is also a collection site. Iryna has put us in contact with some local Ukrainians in Hershey who will pick up items from the Flag to get them to New York. Obviously, the items don’t have to come from Amazon. Feel free to source them anywhere and drop them off with us.

Again, all of the other fundraisers are incredible and we support them. We will likely brew a beer to support Ukraine as well and use 100% of the proceeds to purchase items on this list. But this is personal to us because of Iryna, and she tells us that these items are the best way to help.

The last photo is of a Ukrainian flag Iryna left for us years ago. It has been hanging in our staff area ever since, but we have recently moved it to a more prominent position. For us, this war isn’t about national governments, gas prices, or global alliances. It’s about an amazing young woman who is precious to us.
