Pittsburgh Libations Week begins Friday, October 12th and is a new tradition in Pittsburgh designed to celebrate the regions adult beverage culture and the tremendous people who drive it forward. It is a full week of celebrating all things wines, spirits and of course… beer!

While we recommend you check out the full calendar of events, here are the specific ones we are most excited for.

Oct. 12th – PLW Kick Off Happy Hour

Feel the local love as The BeerHive pours local favorites from breweries across the region, including the Noble Stein/PLW Hold The Foam Cappuccino Stout collaboration with $1 of every pint going to Lending Hearts. All drafts are $1 off during Happy Hour!Spirits, cocktails, and other tasty adult beverages will also be on hand, as well as an always-awesome menu of food offerings from their friends at The ‘Hive.

Oct. 14th – Test Flight Class Beyond Pumpkin (Fall Beers)

Come to Bierport for a mini-class on different beer-styles paired with a curated flight. Their in-house beer experts will talk about how these brews are made, their flavor profiles, and more while you try an exemplary selection from the Bierport Tap Room. Fall beer doesn’t have to be spicy, sweet, or squash-inspired. Try some more traditional fall beers from Oktoberfests to brown ales!

Oct. 14th – Smoketoberfest V

The 5th Annual Smoketoberfest will be held Sunday, October 14th! They’re taking Smoketoberfest over to their Pop-Up Beer Garden location on the Ohio River so there will be plenty of room for outstanding smoked cuisine from local vendors and great live music. They’ll have a number of specialty Roundabout beers including a few smoked varieties.

Oct. 16th – Test Flight Class – Juice Bombs

Come to Bierport for a mini-class on different beer-styles paired with a curated flight. Their in-house beer experts will talk about how these brews are made, their flavor profiles, and more while you try an exemplary selection from the Bierport Tap Room. Taste some new brews in the trendy juice bomb style. Try some hazy, unfiltered IPAS with unique flavor profiles, picked for you by the Bierport staff.

Oct. 17th – Beer-Cocktail Demo w/ PA Distilleries & East End Brewing

Come join the experts from Pennsylvania Pure Distilleries and East End Brewing Co. during Pittsburgh Libations Week on Wednesday, October 17 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Learn the basics of crafting delicious beer-cocktails, taste a white whiskey distilled by PA Pure Master  Distiller, Barry Young from East End’s Gratitude beer, tour the distillery and sample East End brews and PA Pure spirits!

Oct. 17th – Beer Off-Flavor Education Night

Have you ever been a craving a delicious, innovative craft beer…only to take that first sip and discover that something just isn’t right? It’s happened to us all and it’s very unfortunate. There are several outside elements that can effect the overall taste of your beer. And at this course, we are going to talk about them. It’s time to learn when your beer isn’t at its best at Off-Flavor Education Night at Spoonwood Brewing!

Oct. 18th – Poured In PA Screening

Poured in PA is a brand new documentary film which examines Pennsylvania’s craft beer industry as it follows the Commonwealth’s storied beer past, delves into recent growth, and aims to capture the full tale of the beer industry in the Keystone State.

Oct. 19th – Triple Threat Tap Throwdown

It’s a battle of epic proportions! The irresistible force meets the immovable object! It’s the WAR to SETTLE THE SCORE!!! *Insert your favorite wrestling line here* The inaugural Pittsburgh Libations Week is nearing its end. But before we extinguish the torch, let’s have ourselves a good ol’ fashioned slobberknocker at the taps between three  local brewery favorites!

Oct. 20th – Brewtal Beer Fest 3

Pine Hollow Service Presents Brewtal Beer Fest 3! Once again, Brewtal converges at Mr. Smalls Theater for a unique music and beer experience! Bands pair up with breweries to create a signature libation for the event and compete for the title of best collaboration.
