As you are probably aware, all breweries throughout the state are allowed outdoor seating. (Many more are permitted to have folks come indoors as well). However, not all breweries had outdoor dining available and as a result, some had to come up with outdoor beer garden options in a short period of time. (Check out some great outdoor options readily available here).
We scoured the state, and below are a handful of breweries who turned around outdoor seating options to offer dine-in services according to the guidance of the state.
La Cabra Brewing – Berwyn
La Cabra Brewing (Berwyn, PA) set up what they call their “Bier Tents”. They are 8 socially distanced tents in their back parking lot for guests to enjoy themselves, while also maintaining social distancing. Each tent can seat up to 6 people (including children).
The brewery offers two outdoor seating timeframes. The first is from 5:00 – 6:30 PM, and the second from 7:00 – 8:30 pm. Allowing the brewery to thoroughly clean the seating areas in between each session.
The tents must be reserved ahead of time by contacting the brewery directly.
The Proper Brewing – Quakertown
The Proper Brewing Company (Quakertown, PA), much like La Cabra above, saw their outdoor parking lot as the ideal location to create a makeshift outdoor beer garden. As you can see in the picture above the brewery pulled open a massive tent, tons of tables and chairs, and have created an open-air seating option for many to enjoy.
Reservations are required to dine ahead of time and will be good for a two-hour window, only. The brewery does this to allow for as many patrons as possible. However, reservations are only required for seating under the tent. The brewery offers uncovered tables seating on a first-come, first-serve basis.
There are also tables that do not require reservations for those who would like to enjoy drinks with friends, and who are not dining. Well-behaved, leashed dogs are also allowed at uncovered, non-reserved tables.
Allegheny City Brewing – Pittsburgh
Unlike the two above, Allegheny City Brewing (Pittsburgh, PA) is located in a county that offers both indoor and outdoor seating. To maximize the number of guests they are allowed to serve the brewery created an outdoor dining area located adjacent to their taproom.
A few quick rules for seating; masks must be worn until seated, no seating directly at the bar, and a max group of 4 individuals together is allowed. The brewery lists the complete rules for seating options at the front door of their building.
And of course, make sure to check their Facebook page to see which food truck will be serving at the brewery that day.
Free Will Brewing – Perkasie
If you’ve ever visited Free Will Brewing (Perkasie, PA) you may know of their outdoor seating area. It’s a handful of benches in the front and side of the building. However, the brewery stepped it up with offering a huge outdoor seating area once this became the only option for dine-in options.
The brewery took the massive field that sat next to their building and turned it into an epic beer garden equipped with a pop-up bar, bathrooms, and sanitizing stations. No reservations are required for the seating. But they do ask that you maintain social distancing and wear masks before seating. The brewer is open Friday – Sunday from 12:00 – 7:00.
Pizza Boy Brewing – Enola
Pizza Boy Brewing (Enola, PA) wasted no time getting their outdoor seating ready for the Yellow phase. At the stroke of midnight on the day they could return to outdoor dining they opened up to the public. Yup, right at midnight!
And that outdoor set up has been going strong ever since. As they call it, the outdoor seatng area is an extension of their existing dining room, and the same rules apply outdoor as they did indoor. The brewery even added liquor and alcoholic slushies to the mix! Guests can order the pizza the brewery is well known for, as well as beer cans and draft pours.
Their outdoor dining area is open during the same hours as the restaurant hours and even reserves the hour from 10am-11am every day for seniors.
Wyndridge Farm – Dallastown
When you sit on a large, rustic farm with plenty of acres of land it can make for the perfect outdoor beer setting. Which is exactly what Wyndridge Farm (Dallastown, PA) did with their beautiful location.
The beer and cider maker created a Pop-Up beer garden to comply with the state’s mandate of outdoor dining only. Large tents, cold beer, and even a few food trucks showed up for the party. The first weekend ran from 1:00 – 8:00 PM on both Saturday and Sunday with live music. All sales are made by credit card only for the safety of all.
The brewery is continuing the pop-up, and the best way to find the next one is to follow them on Facebook.
