Recently we had the good fortune of touring the Butler County Beer Circuit located in Western PA. The Beer Circuit is organized and managed by Visit Butler County and boasts eight different breweries (with even more coming!) A map of the eight breweries can be found below:
The breweries that make up the beer circuit are as follows:
• Butler Brew Works
• Cellar Works Brewing
• Missing Links Brewery
• North Country Brewery And Cannery
• Reclamation Brewing
• Recon Brewing
• ShuBrew
• Stick City Brewing
• Dented Keg Brewing
• Burgh’ers Brewing
The beauty of the beer circuit is the fact that no two breweries are alike, and with as spaced out as each location is, you don’t have to travel to all eight breweries at once the way we did (although it was very enjoyable). It really is a destination for any true craft beer vacationer.
Before heading out to your first visit, it is important to grab your passport. The beer circuit offers prizes for completing a trip to all breweries involved. Simply get a passport, take it to the brew pubs listed, order a pint or a flight and receive a stamp at each location. Once the card is complete, you can bring it to the Tourism Bureau to claim a specialty mug and more for completing the Beer Circuit! Get more details on the passport here.
As we mentioned, the most appealing part of the circuit is the variety in what is offered. Looking for a night in town? We would recommend Butler Brew Works or Reclamation Brewing that both sit in the heart of Butler. Or how about getting lost out in the sticks? Stick City is probably the best location for you. What about a meal out with the family? North Country Brewing is your stop (see our North Country full review).
Whatever you are in the mood for the Butler Beer Circuit is sure to have it. As craft beer rises in popularity we’ve noticed how much is offered at breweries these days. The locations along the beer circuit are no different. There’s no doubt you’ll find quality craft beer at each location. Every brewery also offers a variety of other offerings. Most of the locations along the circuit boast in house food such as; North Country, Missing Links, Cellar Works, ShuBrew, Butler Brew Works, Dented Keg, Burgh’ers, Recon and Reclamation. And even the one that doesn’t (Stick City) still offers rotating food trucks to create a full dining experience.
As you’ll see from our trip below, the circuit offers such a wide variety of both look and taste.
With so many miles separating all of the facilities it can be overwhelming to try and enjoy all eight in one day. So we highly recommend making a weekend out of your visit. Each brewery provides such a unique offering there is no reason to rush the trip. With plenty of over night options along the circuit, it’s hard to pass up the opportunity.
If you are looking for a beer vacation that will have you feeling like you are traveling all over the state, while still staying local, we believe the beer circuit is for you. The wide variety of looks, sounds and taste will have you believing you toured the entire Pennsylvania craft beer landscape.
