Tröegs To Release Bourbon Barrel-Aged Triple Nator March 24th

Tröegs Independent Brewing has announced the release of Bourbon Barrel-Aged Triple Nator, a variation of its limited brewery-only Triple Nator.

For this sippable triple bock, Tröegs stuffed its mash tun full of Munich and chocolate malts, then added Belgian candy sugar for a rigorous fermentation. The result is a dense yet crispy strong bock beer (14% ABV) with deep toffee notes and layers of complex malt. After resting in bourbon barrels for 13 months, the finished beer emerges with lush notes of vanilla and toasted coconut and traces of rich molasses.

“I’m very excited about this recipe,” says Tröegs brewmaster co-founding brother John Trogner. “It has its roots in Troegenator, but we didn’t want to just turn up the volume.” Boiling the wort for an extended period – about 30% longer than usual – resulted in the higher gravity that Trogner and his team hoped to achieve. “The extra fermentables from the Demerara and Belgian candy sugars helped nudge up the ABV,” says Trogner.

“This one is definitely meant to cellar,” continues Trogner. “I’m picturing legendary vertical tastings every year when the new vintage is out.”

The Bourbon Barrel-Aged Triple Nator release will take place is available exclusively at Tröegs Brewery in Hershey in 12.7-oz. cork & cage bottles, on March 24th when the brewery opens at 11AM.
