Given the current events of the world, we thought it important to share the stories happening in the Pennsylvania craft beer community that have a positive impact.
For those that are not aware, the folks at Weathered Souls Brewing recently announced a countrywide beer release known as the Black Is Beautiful Initiative. Read more about the initiative below:
“The Black is Beautiful Initiative is to create a collaborative effort among the brewing community and its customers, in an attempt to bring awareness to the injustices that many people of color face daily. It is our mission to bridge the gap that has been around for ages and provide a platform to show that the brewing community is an inclusive place for everyone of any color. We are asking for all breweries and brewers far and wide to raise a glass with us in unison and participate in this collaboration.
We would like a portion of the proceeds of the collaboration beer to go to your local foundations that support police brutality reform and legal defenses for those who have been wronged. We think it’s best that everyone should choose their own entity to donate to in order to spread the love as much as possible. Weathered Souls will personally be donating part of our proceeds to the Know Your Rights Campaign. As much as we want this to be about raising money, the real issue is bringing in the education and information so that change can be brought to a system that has fractured so many families and has been broken for decades.”
Now it appears that the initiative has made its way to Pennsylvania. Voodoo Brewery posted the following over social media recently:

Voodoo Brewing Company was created to be more than just the beer. It was created to invest in and foster local communities and offer inclusive meeting spaces. We know that work, learning, and growth lie ahead for all of us, and we encourage our patrons to stand with us in this pivotal time. Details of this collaboration will be posted in the near future.”
We will continue to update with when and where this beer can be found. As well as any other breweries in PA who may be participating.
