The Best Food Trucks We’ve Enjoyed Out At Breweries In Pennsylvania

When it comes to breweries in Pennsylvania, not all offer an onsite kitchen. But that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy a quality meal to go along with your craft beer. Many will invite food trucks onsite to offer a compliment to your overall brewery experience.

We’ve covered almost every inch of ground Pennsylvania beer has to offer. And throughout our travels have enjoyed plenty of food out of the back of a truck. Below is the list of our top food trucks that you will find parked outside of breweries throughout the state.

What was once an old 1960’s greyhound bus has been converted into one of Pittsburgh’s most noticeable brands. Blue Sparrow opened just a few short years ago. Learn more about their story from a recent Very Local video.

Don’t let the bus fool you, Blue Sparrow is no gimmick. Luke and crew take cooking food very seriously. And we can attest to this, their food is some of the freshest, most rich meals you will find in the steel city.

“We take ingredients from around the globe and fuse them with classic street cart dishes. Food is our passion and that’s why our menu is from scratch. We bake all our own bread. We pickle and ferment our veggies. We braise, marinade, garnish, grill and toast with love. These techniques take time, but at Blue Sparrow we want to tell a story with our food, and we want you to be part of it.”

Also….if they invite you on the bus for a round of N64 GoldenEye….take them up on it! Just don’t expect much….trust us, those boys dominate the game like it’s 1997 all over again.

Mobile Mess Hall

Everyone loves a good theme for their food trucks, right? What better theme to enjoy than one that supports the military. Mobile Mess Hall is set up just as the name describes; as a military-themed mess hall on wheels.

Started in 2017 Mobile Mess Hall operates out of an MKT-99 military kitchen trailer that was built in 1999. The mobile kitchen was started as a way for owner Craig Redden to raise awareness of POW/MIAs (Prisoner Of War/ Missing In Action) and support veterans. Having been raised in a military family of combat veterans it has always been important for the team at Mobile Mess Hall to celebrate those that have served.

Their menu highlights Philadelphia Cheesesteaks, burgers, Italian sausage, chicken quesadillas, and a variety of fried foods such as fried Mac and cheese. Which is rotated regularly to suit their customer’s needs and cater parties at all culinary levels with a  passion for fresh food prepared to order.

Craig has worked in food service for more than 25 years starting as a dishwasher, rising through the ranks to a district manager for a Fortune 500 company. You can find Mobile Mess Hall primarily operating in the Chester County area, while also traveling throughout Pennsylvania, Delaware, and New Jersey for an array of events.

BB Kitchen And Grill

In the land of cheesesteaks (that’s what we’re calling Philly, right?) it can be hard to stand out from the crowd. But BB Kitchen And Grill does exactly that. While their menu is handcrafted by owner Bennie so that on any given night the menu is not the same….you want to make sure to stop by on cheesesteak night. BB offers some of the freshest ingredients you will find behind the window of a truck.

BB Kitchen And Grill can be found up and down the eastern part of the state, traveling throughout Philadelphia, Bucks and Montgomery Counties and the Lehigh Valley. If you’re there on the night BB’s has brought out his mouth-watering ribs, give us a call….we’ll head right over!

Mac And Gold

If you walk into any brewery around Pittsburgh and see a large yellow truck out front, you know you’ve struck gold. Now enough with the dad jokes. Mac And Gold has established itself as one of the Steel City’s go to’s when it comes to mobile food offerings.

It’s easy to think Mac and Cheese can be a simple meal. But with toppings such as BBQ pork, lobster, buffalo chicken (our favorite), mixed vegetables and so much more….the possibilities coming out of this truck are endless! Their fresh rosemary-garlic hand-cut fries and seasonal salads make for the perfect complete meal.

Dekes BBQ

While many Philadelphia locals are familiar with the Dekes brand….you don’t always have to head to their restaurant for some of their delicious BBQ. Luckily the restaurant also offers a mobile food truck that can be found all over the city of brotherly love.

Don’t take our word for it though. Deke’s was featured at our 2019 Pittsburgh Invades Philly Beer Fest. A countless number of guests would approach us with how much they enjoyed the meals being provided by the truck. How mouth-watering and flavorful the BBQ was. As you can see from the photo above Deke’s is home to the Brisket Cheesesteak….we highly recommend ordering this, you will not be disappointed.

Pizza Jawn

You’d think to get the deep, rich flavor out of a wood-fired pizza you’d need to be somewhere deep in the heart of Tuscany. Or have a five-ton brick oven pizza running. While all of that is really nice, you’d be surprised how much of it is also unnecessary. For Pizza Jawn, all they need is a pickup truck, some tabletop pizza ovens and they are good to go.

But don’t mistake our words. By no means are we underselling the flavor coming from one of their hand-tossed pizzas. As you can see from the bio on their site, Pizza Jawn has taken the craft of delivering fresh ingredients from some of the best minds the industry has to offer.

“David has been fascinated with the art of dough making for over 10 years. His passion has lead to him to countless hours of reading and testing recipes and taking time to study and pick the brains of some of the countries best pizzas makers (Tony Gemignani, Giulio Adriani, Joe Beddia, Daniel (Pizza Gut) Gutter to name a few). All of his family and friends have been the lucky recipients of these tests over the years until they have pushed him to start letting the world enjoy his amazing dough. With the help of his wife Ana they have set out to provide the highest quality pizza at your private events or local establishments that do not have kitchens. Everything is done by hand and they hope to see you at an event soon and let you enjoy the fruits of their labor.”

You can find Pizza Jawn most nights at breweries throughout the Philadelphia and surrounding suburbs.
