East End Brewing Company has teamed up once again with popular Pittsburgh sandwich restaurant Primanti Bros to release their pickle-flavored craft beer, “Almost Famous Pickle Beer”.
Since this beer was a wildly popular fan favorite, they’re bringing it back for a limited time, beginning Wednesday, August 11th at Pittsburgh-area Primanti Bros locations as well as at East End Brewing Company. It will again be sold in individual commemoratively designed 16oz cans, and also sold as 4-packs to-go.
“Each year this beer is a favorite,” said Jim Prezioso, Senior Marketing Manager, Primanti Bros. “It’s a reminder to hang on to the end of summer, slow down and enjoy a little bit of Pittsburgh.”
In addition to the usual hops and barley, the 2021 iteration of Almost Famous Pickle Beer was made with 1,600 pounds of fresh cucumbers that were peeled, chopped, pureed and juiced on-site at East End Brewing’s facility in Pittsburgh. The beer was brewed with dill, sea salt, peppercorn and, for the first time, lemon.
“This year’s Almost Famous Pickle Beer is again born from a labor-intensive brew process,” said Scott Smith, founder, East End Brewing Co. “The fresh ingredients and addition of lemon this year give the beer a tart, yet sessionable, profile. And of course – it pairs perfectly with a Primanti Bros. pastrami and cheese.”
The Almost Famous Pickle Beer is available while supplies last, at select Pittsburgh-area Primanti Bros. locations (full list here), and at the East End Brewing Company’s Brewpub at 147 Julius St, Pittsburgh, PA 15206
