The new Double IPA and Imperial Pilsner will celebrate Zippo’s 90th Anniversary
Bradford Brew Station recently announced a unique collaboration with Zippo Manufacturing Company, the iconic maker of lighters and accessories, for two new craft beers in honor of Zippo’s 90th Anniversary.
“When Zippo approached us earlier this year to help them celebrate their anniversary, we knew this would be an incredible opportunity,” said Tammi, owner of the Bradford Brew Station, which opened in 2019.
Head Brewer, Devin Zelko, added “We set out to challenge ourselves by creating two beers that could hold a flame to the craftsmanship of the Zippo lighter.
Zippo was founded in Bradford in 1932 by George G. Blaisdell when he set out to build a compact, windproof lighter that would stand the test of time. Ninety years later, the Zippo lighter serves as a symbol of American innovation and ingenuity.
“We are honored to be part of the anniversary celebration for Zippo,” said Nathan Lawyer, Head of Marketing and Sales for Bradford Brew Station. “Zippo is more than just a neighbor here in Bradford, they are an enduring, innovative company with a rich history. And like the Bradford Brew Station, they have a great deal of pride and dedication to the city of Bradford and to Pennsylvania.”
The first new Zippo anniversary beer is the Windproof Double IPA. Its label features Windy, an iconic zippo mascot who appeared in many Zippo advertisements in the 1930s and 1940s. This bold Double IPA is a hazy IPA that has been hopped with Zamba and Polaris hops to create a beautifully bitter IPA with notes of citrus and tropical fruit.
Next, the Bradford Brew Station steps into the “Year of the Lager” spotlight, with the American Classic Imperial Pilsner. This pilsner comes in at a staggering 11% ABV and features Magnum, Sterling, and Motueka hops that work together to give this pilsner a bold flavor.
The Bradford Brew Station is challenging fans of the iconic Zippo brand to find the “easter egg” that has been hidden on the cans. Both of these celebratory beers are available for a limited time on tap, and in 16 oz cans, at the Bradford Brew Station. Grab a 4-pack of these iconic beers, and see if you can uncover this hidden gem for yourself.
