Primanti Bros. and East End Brewing Company are again partnering to release their summertime collaboration, Almost Famous Pickle Beer. The beer will be available exclusively at Primanti Bros. and the East End Brewing Co. Brewpub starting on July 15th, and lasting until it’s gone. The beer has sold out quickly each year of its production.

In addition to a traditional brewer’s ingredients like water, barley and hops, the Almost Famous Pickle Beer is made with 1,600 pounds of fresh cucumbers, peeled, chopped, pureed, and juiced to conjure up a huge pickle-ish character. Then the addition of ground coriander, himalayan sea salt, black peppercorns, and fresh lemons work to complete the picture, before the beer is “dry-hopped” with fresh dill.

“Fans of last year’s Almost Famous Pickle Beer will relish the changes we’ve made this year, thanks to our friends and cold-pressed juice experts at Live Fresh Juicery in Homestead who processed all of this fruit for us.” said Scott Smith, founder, East End Brewing Co. “The cold-pressed juice has somehow managed to elevate an already delightful combination of fresh ingredients, producing a unique beer that’s so totally Pittsburgh, and specifically designed to be enjoyed with a Primanti Bros. sandwich.”

In previous years, this beer has sold out in less than 48 hours. And although you’ll be able to find it at 20 Primanti Bros. restaurants and at East End Brewing, supply this year will be quite scarce, as only a limited amount of Almost Famous Pickle Beer is being produced.

“Each year this beer is a favorite,” said Jim Prezioso, Senior Marketing Manager, Primanti Bros. “It’s a reminder to hang on to the end of summer, slow down, and enjoy a little bit of Pittsburgh.”

Almost Famous Pickle Beer will be available in commemoratively designed 16oz cans, sold as 4-packs to-go. It will be available at select Pittsburgh-area Primanti Bros. locations (full list at www.primantibros.com), and at East End Brewing Company’s  Brewpub at 147 Julius St, Pittsburgh, PA 15206 when their doors open at 5:00 pm on Friday, July 15th.
