Big Sewickley Creek Brewery is now open in Beaver County, as the brewery recently held its grand opening.
The new brewery is located at 2030 Big Sewickley Creek Road, just a few miles from the Wexford Flats in McCandless.
The group behind the new brewery includes co-owner/brewer and retired urologist Marc Gignac, his wife, Gine Rooker, a practicing urologist, and his brother Chris Gignac, who recently retired after a career in health care.
On the same day that homebrewing was permitted in Oklahoma, in 1989, Marc started brewing batches of five gallons in his kitchen.
The brand new building is 4,000 sq/ft and has two separate sections: a taproom with 12 draft lines, and a 10-barrel brewhouse. Big Sewickley Creek Brewery will mostly focus on lagers. Big Sewickley Creek will also have Pennsylvania-made liquor and wine available at the bar as well. There is no kitchen on-site, but customers are encouraged to order from food trucks, and can also choose from a small selection of snacks in the taproom.
A few garage doors open up from the taproom to a large beer garden and patio that overlooks the historic Big Sewickley Creek. The beer garden has fire pits, and Adirondack chairs, and is lit up to kick back and relax in nature.
Do you like to visit breweries with your dog? Well, they’re all welcome in the taproom! The brewery has installed leash hooks which are mounted throughout the taproom.
