Black Forest Brewery opened in December 2014 at 301 W Main Street in Ephrata, PA. Brewing on a 4 BBL system, they strictly follow the Reinheitsgebot, which are the German purity laws for brewing. Black Forest is also located on the same property as the 1777 Americana Inn, which Breweries In PA has stayed at!
The brewery is now expanding with a second location, as the owners recently took over The New Main Theater just a few blocks away at 124 East Main Street in Ephrata. We recently spoke with co-owner and head brewer Bob Harter to learn more about the new space.
BIPA: Is the theater currently open and serving Black Forest beer now?
Bob: Yes, the theater is currently open, and you can come to watch first-run movies. We are in the process of building a bar to serve our beer and some canned cocktails. We estimate to be finished by mid-March to be serving a few rotating taps from Black Forest Brewing, and cocktails from Mason Dixon Distillery.
BIPA: Can you tell us more about the theater?
Bob: We have 2 screens that can each hold about 95 people. We currently have some food such as popcorn, candy, and some sodas, and plan on expanding this in the future. During events, we will have a little more food available.
Anything else our readers should know about the new space?
Bob: We plan on hosting events and bands at the stages in the theaters. This space will also be available to rent out for corporate events, as well as weddings and other parties.
We will follow up once the theater is ready to serve Black Forest beer. In the meantime make sure to follow Black Forest Brewing on Instagram and Facebook, as well as The New Main theater on Instagram and Facebook for new movies and showtimes.
