It is no secret there is a close connection between Brew Gentlemen and United States Senator from Pennsylvania John Fetterman. The two sides share a connection over the love of their local neighborhood; Braddock, PA (Fetterman served as mayor from 2006 to 2019).

The relationship between the two spans almost a decade. So much so that it has developed to the point where the New Yorker was quoted as calling brewery owner Matt Katase and Fetterman “close friends” when profiling the Senator’s victory to Congress in 2022.

So it should come as no surprise that the brewery recently teamed with Gisele Fetterman (Mr. Fetterman’s wife) on a special collaboration beer in support of Free Store 1504. Fetterman started Free Store 1504 as a way to help build the neighborhood and surrounding areas of Braddock, PA.

As their website states, Free Store was developed as a way to empower a once thriving community. Their website goes on to say:

“No place has lost a greater share of its population than Braddock, Pennsylvania. This ravaged, near-empty stretch of abandoned homes, storefronts, and building just outside of Pittsburgh was once a storied cornerstone of the industrial age. After losing 90% of its peak population, Braddock’s spirit is being tested. Free Store 15104 works to bring back that spirit of community today and every day.”

A portion of the proceeds will go to support the Free Store’s mission of using “the distribution of free items as a catalyst for change. We encourage recycling and reuse as a means to counteract excessive waste and consumption. We aim to eradicate food and clothing insecurity.”

As the Untappd profile states “Free Store Brew” is a 5.2% Summer Ale brewed with mixed berry and blood orange. According to a post from Mrs. Fetterman on Facebook, the beer is available for purchase at the brewery, online (for statewide shipping) at their website, or at a local distributor.
