Brü Daddy’s Brewing Co. announced today it is the recipient of a Silver Award at the 2020 U.S. Open Beer Championship for its Black Sheep Schwarzbier. Schwarzbier is a traditional German-style black lager.
The U.S. Open Beer Championship is an annual international brewing competition and is one of the top three beer competitions in the United States. Beers are submitted from all over the world and rated by a panel of judges. This year, over 6,000 beer representing 140 different styles of beer were entered in the competition. There were only two other Pennsylvania breweries that received awards, Desperate Times Brewing in Carlisle, PA and D.G. Yuengling in Pottstown, PA.
Bru Daddy’s Black Sheep was designed and brewed by Head Brewer, Todd Reinhardt who joined Bru Daddy’s in July 2020. Todd came to Bru Daddy’s from Free Will Brewing in Perkasie, Pa and was previously at Two Rivers Brewing in Easton, PA.
“We are very proud to have won a national award and are very fortunate to have Todd Reinhardt as our Head Brewer. Our beer program has elevated considerably and we have been introducing great new beers for our taps and in to-go cans. We have been canning our beer since November 2020 and it is really taking off. The community of Allentown has responded positively” brewery owner Rich Ryan said about the news.
Bru Daddy’s Brewing Co. opened in downtown Allentown across from the PPL Center in November 2019 and began canning their beer for to-go sales in November 2020. The surreal label art of each can plays off the mural at Bru Daddy’s and was designed by Denton Burrows a NYC commercial street artist with ties to Lehigh University in Bethlehem.
The Bru Daddy’s lineup of craft beer includes flagship beer, Haze Daddy, a new seasonal IPA called Winter Dreamz and a fruited sour line of beers called Sour Senoirita. Last week they introduced Hazy Treat Creamsicle, a hazy IPA with orange and vanilla and shortly will be releasing their Hamilton Street Helles, a German Helles lager. Bru Daddy’s is one of a few Pennslyvania breweries who are shipping their beer statewide. Details are available at brudaddysbrewingco.com.
Bru Daddy’s Brewing Co. touts their GOOD BEER, REAL FOOD, and COOL VIBES and has developed a reputation for serving food that’s as good as the beer. Hand-crafted, wood-fired artisan pizza is a favorite, but the scratch kitchen menu also features shareables, handhelds, burgers, wings, and salads. They are even freezing and packaging their artisan pizzas and selling them in small local food stores. The outdoor beer garden at Bru Daddy’s is a popular spot downtown with authentic Bavarian beer garden tables and overhead heaters. On Valentine’s Day (Sunday, February 14, 2021) Bru Daddy’s will launch their first-ever Sunday brunch. Reservations are recommended at http://www.brudaddysbrewingco.com or www.opentable.com.
