Cheers to Fresh Beginnings: Introducing Sunset Hill Brewing Nestled on a Serene 35-Acre Farm

Congratulations to Sunset Hill Brewing Company which is the most recent brewery to open in Pennsylvania. The brewing company recently opened its doors in Gilbertsville, PA on the former 35-acre Sulomans Dairy Farm, at 2782 Leidy Road.

We first profiled the brewery back in January, where you can read our interview with co-owners and brothers Josh and Brett Firely.

As mentioned above the brewery sits on a massive plot of land that was the former home of Sulomans Dairy Farm. The 3,000 square foot was originally built in 1971 and was used to house all of the milk production from the farm.

The space will be split between beer production and retail. Roughly 1,100 square feet of the building will be used for their taproom which will feature 10 taps, an L-shaped bar with seating for about 15. (The entire taproom will seat around 35). The other half will house beer production with a 7 BBL Deutsche brewhouse and an additional eight 7 BBL fermenters, three 15 BBL fermenters, and four 7 BBL Brite tanks.

On the outside Sunset Hill plans to take advantage of the beautiful landscape their brewery sits on. “We will be growing hops in the field on the one side, and have an outdoor beer garden on the other. A big patio will be built with fire pits and lots of outdoor activities” the owners shared with us about current and future plans.

In addition to this, the property also features a large pond where guests can sit by the water and enjoy one of the locally made beers. Guests are even welcome to feed ducks as they come up from the pond. Ownership went on to say that future plans include “having a farm setting with different seasonal outdoor activities such as a fall pumpkin patch, corn maze, etc.”

As for beer production, the brewery intends to offer a wide variety of styles but did confirm with us that their “main focus will be on lots of hazy IPAs, pilsners/lagers, and some porters and stouts. We are excited to start with hazy and west coast IPAs, as well as a few different types of lagers. Also, we’ll be making seasonal beers, think shandy, pumpkin beers, etc.” Sunset Hill does not plan to offer food itself, but food trucks will be on the property on the days that they are open. As of this writing their taproom is only open on Friday & Saturday from 12:00 – 8:00 PM.
