Primanti Bros. and East End Brewing Company are once again partnering to release their favorite summertime collaboration, Almost Famous Pickle Beer.
“This year’s Almost Famous Pickle Beer has a zippy new recipe update.” said Scott Smith, founder, East End Brewing Company. “We’ve enjoyed working on this collaboration with Primanti Bros for several years now. But like any long term relationship, after a while it’s nice to spice things up a bit.”
In addition to the barley, hops, dill, and 1,600 lbs of fresh cucumbers that go into this beer, this year’s recipe was brewed with chili peppers to provide a spicy little kick at the finish.
On Thursday, July 20th, the Almost Famous Pickle Beer (or more accurately, the Almost Famous SPICY Pickle Beer) will be released at BOTH East End Brewing locations in 4 packs of 16oz cans to-go, and on draft for on-site enjoyment. Cans will also be available at twenty Pittsburgh-area Primanti Brothers Restaurants the following day, on Friday, July 21st.
In previous years, this collaboration has sold out in less than 48 hours. The supply is limited…. so just like Picklesburgh, when it’s gone, it’s gone.
East End Brewing is also leaning into Picklesburgh celebrations HARD this year, with the addition of a Pickle Soda Pop and a Pickle Seltzer Water from their in-house Barmy Soda Company. They’re also celebrating the triumphant return of the Pickle Pizza from their East End Chewing pizza kitchen at their Larimer Brewpub. “We will have pickle hummus and pickle potato salad at the brewpub… and the Mt. Lebo Taproom will have its own pickle pizza plus possibly a pickle vinaigrette for the salad and something for his hummus as well” East End owner Scott Smith added about the pickle themed menu.
“Each year this beer is a crowd favorite, and this year’s version is the best one yet,” said Jim Prezioso, Director of Beverage at Primanti Bros. “It’s a reminder to hang on to the end of summer, slow down and enjoy a little bit of what makes Pittsburgh special.”
