Meyers Brewing Company has expanded from Philly to the Shore, with a sister location in New Jersey called Meyers Lighthouse Brewing Company.
The new taproom and mini-golf course is located at 2576 Route 9, in Ocean View, NJ. The space is projected to open to the public on June 13th, 2024. Due to New Jersey brewery laws, this won’t be just a taproom but a brewery as well, as everything has to be made on-site.
We spoke with owner Mike Meyers to learn more about the expansion of his Philadelphia-based brewery to New Jersey.
The Brewery
Meyers recently finished some extensive renovations to open and the property contains an 18-hole, lighthouse-themed mini golf course that was recently refurbished.
Beer fans can expect the same split of styles from Meyers Brewing that are offered at their Philadelphia location, with a focus on IPAs (a mixture of East Coast, West Coast, and some pale ales) and then a mix of other styles such as stouts, sours, lagers, pils, and more. The brewery will release crowlers to start, with cans coming down the line. They installed a 7-BBL brewhouse with four 7BBL fermentation tanks and two 7BBL Brite tanks.
Meyers Lighthouse Brewing also reintroduces a local brewer to the area. Originally from Tuckahoe, Andrew Swanson moved to Somers Point and now resides in Upper Township. Swanson has been brewing professionally since 2017 and in 2020 graduated from the American Brewers Guild Intensive Brewing Science & Engineering course while serving as head brewer at Swedesboro Brewing Company. Swanson has been head of brewing at Meyers Brewing in Fishtown since March 2023.
The Taproom
The taproom has 12 taps at a 10-seat bar and 20 additional seats with tables and chairs. It also features TVs, additional snacks for purchase, and water ice for those hot summer days. Out back is additional seating for 25 people, with a large 60×30-foot fenced-in beer garden for games. It features a walk-up bar and plenty of room for food trucks.
