Grand Opening: Back Porch Brewing To Open Friday, February 3rd (Carlisle)

Back Porch Brewing will be opening soon in Carlisle. The brewery will be located at 133 North Hanover Street, with an opening date of February 3rd, 2023.

The brewery is co-owned by friends Tim Wickard and Rod Harman, and we recently spoke with Tim to learn about the new brewery and what beer fans can expect.

BIPA: What stage are you currently in?

Tim: We are ready to open on Friday, February 3rd. The first two weeks will be only on weekends, with appetizers and drinks only. We open with regular hours on February 15th, Wednesdays thru Sundays.

BIPA: How did you become initially interested in craft beer? Who is all involved in the brewery?

Tim: One of my best friends, and now co-owner of the brewery Rod Harman, got me started drinking craft beer. He homebrewed for years prior, we started homebrewing together, and now here we are! Rod and I are joint partners legally but our significant others are involved as well.

BIPA: What styles of beers will you focus on?

Tim: We do not have specific styles we are focusing on, instead, our focus is on brewing good beer. We will make a variety of styles!

BIPA: Can you describe the space you are opening?

Tim: Our space is long and narrow, with about 6,000 sq/ft, and can fit a little over 200 people. This building was previously a bookstore, so was just one large empty space. It has a lot of history, and in the mid-1900s it was a car dealership that still has an old sliding door that separated the two buildings.

Our name is “Back Porch”, and we have designed what we feel is a very relaxing atmosphere, like a relaxing evening on the back porch. We currently have a one-barrel brewhouse, feeding 12 taps. We hope to upgrade this as soon as money allows!

BIPA: Will you release crowlers/cans there as well?

Tim: Eventually we will be releasing crowlers and cans, but not in the beginning! To start, we will fill all growlers that are brought in.

BIPA: Will there be food offered?

Tim: Yes, we have a full commercial kitchen. We will have a full menu of “back porch” grilling foods such as burgers, bratz, chicken sandwiches, and wings.

BIPA: Anything else our readers should know about Back Porch Brewing?

Tim: We have a lot of space, and have had a lot of requests for room to dance. So, we left room for a dance floor. We want our place to be a fun place, and we will offer entertainment regularly.
