Pennsylvania beer growth is not slowing down in 2019, as another great brewery opens their doors. On Friday, March 15th Tannery Run Brew Works opens their doors on Butler Ave in Ambler.
Once open, their hours will be:
• Monday – Closed
• Tues. – Thur. – 4 – 11pm
• Friday – Saturday – 11am – Midnight
• Sunday – 11am – 9pm
We recently visited this brewery to get an inside look on what guests can expect. Tannery Run will operate a 9,500+ square feet, 7 barrel location with a lot of history and even more to offer their customers! Along with the 7 barrel system, their brewery will offer 5 fermenters and 2 brite tanks. As we learned, Tannery Run specializes in what they are defining as “splatch” brewing. We’ve toured hundreds of breweries and this was the first time we have ever run into this phrase, so if it is new to you we understand.
As we learned, splatch brewing is the process in which two beers are brewed from the same brew (split batch = splatch). And that doesn’t mean you’re getting a slight variety of the same beer. For example Tannery Run brewed a New England style IPA and Brut IPA through the splatch style. Two significantly different beers, coming from the same original brew. We are very excited to see what more this brewery will do through this unique style of brewing.
See inside for yourself:
The almost 10,000 square feet of the brewery is split into two section. A 4,100+ square feet upstairs and 5,000+ square feet basement. Upstairs will house their taproom, brewery and even a kitchen! Tim comes from a 10+ year career of managing kitchens so this only made sense. Along with their beer, they will offer flatbreads, soups, salads, chicken wings and more. The taproom will offer a 12 tap system as well as wine and cocktails.
Downstairs is where it gets very interesting. While not being open right away, the downstairs will eventually offer a private event space, with it’s own bar, for guests to rent out. You may also be asking yourself how the brewery got it’s name. That is probably the most intriguing part of their downstairs area. Running directly below the brewery is the Tannery Run creek, hence the name.
There is a lot going on at this location on Butler Ave in Ambler. Congratulations to them on their grand opening. Want to visit them before the opening? Follow them on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
