Helltown Brewing Introduces “Hellping Hops”; A Charity Collaboration Beer

Helltown Brewing (based in Mt. Pleasant, with 4 taprooms) has teamed up with Ohio-based non-profit Helping Hops, to make a beer in support of two local food banks.

Helping Hops facilitates and maximizes fundraising for local charitable causes by mobilizing the passion and generosity of the craft beer community. Helping Hops is a 501(c)3 volunteer-based non-profit organization, dedicated to promoting social and environmental sustainability among local craft brewers, their industry supply chain, and their consumers.

“It is great to be the first collaboration brewery in Pennsylvania with Helping Hops. During Covid, many companies have had to adapt and shift gears. It is an honor to work with an organization that has the ability to adjust to new circumstances while continuing to give back to the community. We look forward to an opportunity to work with Andrew and Helping Hops in the future.” Pat Harris – Head Brewer Helltown Brewing

The Beer

The name “Hellping Hops” is a play on both the Helltown Brewing and Helping Hops name. The beer is a 6.5% New England style IPA, and was brewed with Domestic 2-row, Golden Promise, wheat, and flaked barley. It was hopped with Amarillo, Citra, Cascade, and Mandarina Bavaria hops.

Described as a soft-bodied but crisp IPA, you’ll notice bright citrus/stone fruit aromas and orange/lemon flavors with a dry and refreshing finish. “Hellping Hops” will be available in mid-to-late February only at Helltown’s taprooms in Export, Houston, Mt. Pleasant, and the Strip District. NEIPA

$1 from each four-pack, $1.50 from each draft pour, and $6 from every case will be donated towards the fight against food insecurity to the Greater Washington County Food Bank and Westmoreland County Food Bank.
