Back in February of 2020 we had brought you the news that Enix Brewing had put up their building for sale. And in the year plus since that time there has not been much movement. Until now.
Recently the name “Homestead Beer Works” has been showing up on Pennsylvania’s Liquor Control Board license search. For those not familiar, the PLCB has an online portal where folks can search for business licenses within the beverage production, bar and restaurant space.
You can see a screenshot of the licenses linked to the Homestead Beer Works name.
The addresses listed on both licenses are also the same address for the former Enix Brewing company in Homestead. Unfortunately, not much more information is available when you click on the listings. Management, owners, and officers are not listed. The license is simply listed as “Pending”.
However, when you search Homestead Beer Works through the Pennsylvania Department of State business entity public search website, the following LLC information is available:
In the screenshot above you see the LLC has only recently been filed, as of late March 2021. The address on file for the entity reads 1704 Shady Avenue Pittsburgh PA 15217. This is also the location of The Independent Brewing Company; one of Pittsburgh’s most well-known beer, wine, and spirit taverns.
As of this writing, no additional information is made available. You could connect the dots that The Independent has potentially acquired the old Enix building with the intent to open Pittsburgh’s latest brewery. However, that is simply speculation at this point. The Independent did not immediately respond to our requests for comment.
We will continue to update as more information is available.
