Mad Chef Holding First Can Release; 10/2

Mad Chef Craft Brewing (Lancaster, PA) is holding their first-ever can release, a collaboration with Swashbuckler Brewing: Harvest Rye IPA. When they set out to collaborate, their goal was to make something very different.

Harvest Rye IPA is a 6.3% IPA available in 12oz cans. This will be available in cans in limited quantities at both breweries on Friday 10/2, as well as on tap.

While using up to 40% locally grown malts and grains, they remained focused on using a special ingredient that would create a bold and noticeable flavor profile. Using local Rye Malt from Proximity malting group to create an earthy, bold, and complex malt backbone, they then complemented it with some spicy noble and American hops in the kettle.

Using a lot of Saaz in the whirlpool helped drive home the spicy, peppery flavors and aroma that Rye screams. Adding to this, the duo kettle hopped this beer with Galena, Cashmere, Centennial, and Mosaic. Pine, grapefruit, earthy spice, and some background notes of tropical fruit helped to round out the hop additions. Dry-hopping during fermentation with Chinook and Mandarina Bavaria helped seal the deal for aggressive noble and American hop flavors.

Mad Chef and Swashbuckler truly believe they have achieved the goal to make a special, unique, and vastly interesting and complex beer, and are excited for beer fans to try it.
