Mudhook Brewing Company is officially up for sale in York, as founder Jeff Lau prepares to retire after 15 years in business.
The sale was announced this week social media, putting the established brewpub, restaurant equipment and bar supplies on the market. The goal is to find a new owner who can continue the business and keep Mudhook’s place in the York beer community going.
Mudhook Brewing Company opened in York, PA in 2010, becoming part of the early wave of breweries that established York as a destination for craft beer.
Founded by Jeff Lau, Mudhook grew from a small local brewery into a longtime downtown gathering spot, pairing its own beer with a pub menu and a space for many community events.
Over the past 15 years, Mudhook has developed a following around events including its annual beach party, New Year’s Eve pint drop, scavenger hunts, bar crawls, St. Patrick’s Day party, Mug Club, First Fridays and Piano Man.
“Energy and creativity was what got Mudhook started and now that is what is needed to keep it going,” Mudhook said in its sale announcement.
The sale offers a new owner the opportunity to take over an established brewpub with 15 years of history, equipment and an existing customer base.
