Once again Stolen Sun Craft Brewery has teamed up with Duck Donuts, a popular donut company (headquartered out of Mechanicsburg with various locations throughout PA) for a special beer collaboration.
“Quak Of Dawn” is a 7.8% french toast donut stout, using actual Duck Donuts french toast donuts in the mash, and some fondant in the boil for some sweet flavors.
Starting Saturday, November 6th at 10:00 am there will be cans available at the brewery, along with limited draft, as well as with freshly topped donuts available for a donut & beer pairing.
As we reported in the past, the connection between the two brands started when Stolen Sun’s owners Jon and Deirdre Zangwill got to know Matt and Terry Matalavage, the owners of DD West Chester with the intent to plan a beer and donut pairing at the brewery in November of 2019. From there the idea of a beer/ donut collaboration was born. The two brands started the ideation process and settled on a French toast donut pastry stout. Something sweet but still balanced and drinkable.
“If you told me when I started brewing in the early ’90s that one day I’d be throwing donuts in the mas tun I would’ve said you were crazy. It’s exciting and challenging to continue to push the envelope in old school to new school beers.” – Jonathan Zangwill, Owner/Brewer of Stolen Sun Brewing Company.
On brew day, they all ate donuts, drank beer, and talked about possible names and label ideas. Quack of Dawn was then decided on as the name.
