Stonebridge Brewing (Johnstown, PA) has been making lots of changes lately. The brewery has been hard at work expanding operations, adding to their taproom, and adding a restaurant onsite. We recently spoke with the owner and head brewer Jeremy Shearer to get the details.
First off, all changes are being made to the same space that Stonebridge has occupied, a large 12,000 sq/ft warehouse. The brewery original started with a 3bbl brewhouse. They quickly expanded to 5bbl brewhouse in 2019. And in May of 2020, they took delivery of a brand new 20bbl Alpha brewhouse with six 20bbl fermenters, which the install on was just finished in December. They also have a brand new Twin Monkeys canning line.
To say the brewery is set up for growth is an understatement. Stonebridge already distributes to 18 counties in Western PA, with plans are in motion to get cans in the hands of ALL PA residents.
With the new system upgrades, Stonebridge increased their beer production to 3,000 sq/ft. The remainder of the first-floor space will be split into a dual concept of the brewery taproom, and a new restaurant.
The taproom was increased in size to accommodate around 50-55 people (outside of pandemic restrictions). This taproom currently has 8 taps and will be expanded to 16 shortly. There will be all Stonebridge beers, some cider, and PA wine and liquor. The taproom will offer acoustic musicians occasionally, and offer bar bites and small plates of food to enjoy with their beer.
“Craft At Stonebridge Brewing” will be the new restaurant constructed, with a capacity of 50-55 people (outside of pandemic restrictions). This will be “fusion-style”, as Jeremy told us, with a mixture of Korean, Thai, and Vietnamese food, as well as some Spanish and Latin flavors. The menus will be rotating, and there will be 8 taps, both core brands to Stonebridge and some guest taps. The restaurant will also have some house DJs from time to time. The estimated opening is in the May/June timeframe.
Currently, the taproom is open with limited hours on Friday nights and Saturdays. As the pandemic restrictions begin to ease, they are looking to extend these hours. The kitchen that will serve both the taproom and the restaurant is not yet done, so food is limited.
And as always, Stonebridge is both dog-friendly and kid-friendly, so you can bring the entire family.
We are looking forward to visiting the new space once it’s done. Make sure to follow Stonebridge on Facebook and Instagram to follow along with the progress. We will update you with more information once the buildout is complete!
