“Tattered Flag at Hollywood Casino” will be opening this August, targeting a grand opening date of August 22nd. Tattered Flag Brewery will be opening on the 2nd floor at the Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course at 777 Hollywood Blvd in Grantville.
The opening of the space will coincide with the first Live Nation summer concert featuring Journey. The casino is also looking to add a hotel, a Barstool Sportsbook, and other amenities in the future to establish itself as a destination for vacations.
This 8,900 sq/ft 200 seat restaurant and kitchen space overlooks the entire casino and was formerly called the Skybox Sports Bar. This space will also be accessible without going through the casino. Tattered Flag will serve upscale pub food, similar to what is served at their location in Middletown, as well as a full lineup available of Tattered Flag’s beer and liquor available (these will also be available to drink while walking around the casino grounds too).
The large bar has seating for around 18-20 people and will have 18 taps: 6 taps of TF’s own beer, 6 taps of kegged ready-to-drink TF cocktails, and an additional 6 rotating taps with beer from Pennsylvania veteran-owned breweries.
“This space will be designed to honor veterans and to tell their stories.” Says co-owner Tony DeLellis. “You can come and feel like you’re at home. We want veterans to have a space to tell their stories.”
Both the brewery and the casino will agree upon a veteran charity organization quarterly to donate a portion of revenues each month. This is also happening with the Live Nation concert series they hold too. In addition, The Hollywood Casino has a program for vets called “MyHeroes”, a program they run that offers exclusive perks to veterans including concerts and many others experiences.
For the decor, TF will be inviting any veterans, or family of veterans, to donate something that they would want to display in the restaurant (this could be a coin, patch, flag, uniform, etc). The idea is to let veterans decorate the place. Anyone interested in this would need to drop off the items at any Tattered Flag location or the casino, or mail the items to either location by August 1st. They are also considering decorating each wing of the restaurant to be a different wing of the military, and this idea is still in the works.
