Saint Benjamin Brewing is excited to announce the promotion of Assistant Brewer, Josh Caputo to the position of Head Brewer
Josh was born in Rivesville WV and graduated from Fairmont State University in Fairmont WV with a BA in education.
He moved to DeKalb IL where he worked as a janitor at NIU while his wife, Tessa, went to grad school. During this time he decided to pursue a career in brewing and enrolled in the American Brewers Guild brewing school. After completing his coursework, he interned at Gordon Biersch in Myrtle Beach SC. It was here where he really started to appreciate the art of lager brewing.
From there he was hired at Duck Rabbit in Farmville NC to work on the bottling line and as a cellar person. He responded to an ad posted on Probrewer by Saint Benjamin founder, Tim Patton, and the rest is history.
Since his arrival, Josh has been a foundational rock at Saint Benjamin and he has had a direct hand in nearly every barrel of beer created in of our award winning brewing program. Josh plans to continue our focus on well crafted traditional Lagers and intends to explore and experiment with beer styles from early in the craft brew movement such as West Coast IPAs.
