Earlier this week we published a story of Jean Broillet appearing to resurface as a public figure at Tired Hands Brewing. You can read that report here. While at the time of the writing, there were plenty of details to point to his resumed involvement, most were speculation as there was no official word from the brewery.
However, as of this writing, Tired Hands has released an official statement on the matter through a public relations firm. In a report published by The Philadelphia Inquirer the Ardmore based brewery had the following about the matter through local PR firm Gregory FCA:
“He stepped away to do some soul-searching. He owns the company, he’s the visionary behind it. He’s back”
Broillet had originally stepped down from daily operations due to an overwhelming number of accusations against him which included sexism, racism, and misogyny. The reports became public when Brienne Allen (instagram.com/ratmagnet) posted anonymous messages shared with her from her personal Instagram account. It’s worth noting that the brewery had originally posted publicly about the matter in May of 2021 but has since deleted the public statement from their social media profiles.
The report from the Inquirer goes on to share that “Broillet never agreed to enter conversations about divesting himself of Tired Hands, and that he had also never agreed to permanently leave the business.”
In a report from Good Beer Hunting released earlier this week, anonymous employees were quoted as sharing that caused a working environment that was “more disruptive than constructive.” The employees noted how many of the promises originally made by the brewery about change were either short-lived or never came to fruition.
The same report goes on to highlight how the brewing company recently went on the defensive against Allen (who originally shared the stories which lead to all of this”. The report confirms that “in two now-deleted Instagram stories, Tired Hands Brewing’s official account also wrote: “JUST PLEASE STOP WITH YOUR HARASSMENT @ratmagnet” and “PLEASE STOP TRYING TO HURT GOOD PEOPLE @ratmagnet”. Although it’s worth noting it’s impossible to know who was behind sending the messages.
All of this leads the brewing company to move forward past the allegations. There is no telling how this situation will impact the future of the business, only time will tell.
