A move more than a year in the making becomes a reality as the team at Union Brothers Brewing officially opens their new taproom. If you have followed them on social media long enough you know the move will not be far as they will be opening in the former Harmony Moose Lodge at 270 Mercer Road in Harmony, PA, a 6,000 sq/ft building with a 6,000 sq/ft beer garden.
In a past profile of the future space we spoke with the owner and brewer Zach Waltz to learn more about the new taproom and see what beer fans can expect.
The plan is for Union Brothers to leave their current location at 365 Mercer Road and will keep the production facility at 319 Perry Highway just a few minutes away from the new location. The bar will have seating for around 40 people, with 20 taps of fresh Union Brothers beer. He also said there are about 60 additional seats in the dining room as well. In addition to beer, they plan to offer a wide variety of PA liquor and cocktails.
Outside, they will have seating for about 200 in the beer garden, with an additional 100-person covered pavilion for private events. There is a converted shipping container that is a bar, and the plan is to have lots of live music and other events.
As of this writing the opening is planned for the weekend of December 15th. You can see the official announcement here. The weekend hours are scheduled for Friday at 4PM, then regular hours for Saturday and Sunday for a three day weekend soft opening. No word yet on when regular hours will begin.
You can expect a lot of great food, from the brewery that won the 2020 Breweries In PA Readers Choice award for “Best Food”. Waltz confirmed that customers can expect an expanded food menu, continuing on the theme of fresh beef burgers and hand-crafted sandwiches. A new item coming to their menu will be pizza, as they will be installing a new pizza oven!
