Allegheny Creek Brewing: A New Destination Brewery In Mount Bethel

For those who may not be familiar Allegheny Creek Brewing Company recently opened their doors for the first time at 690 Allegheny Rd in Mt Bethel, PA. And while they have only been operating in Pennsylvania for a short time, it’s no doubt that this brewery is soon to become the next must-stop on your Pennsylvania craft beer adventures.

We recently sat down with Allegheny Creek Brewing GM Rob Sabola to learn more about the brewery and its location for craft beer fans.

The Story Behind the Property And The Owners

Allegheny Creek Brewing sits on a beautiful and picturesque 92-acre farm which is owned and operated by the Correll family. The history of the modern-day operations of the property dates back to 1996, when the Correll’s opened a family fun recreation complex called Apple Blossom Village. The business was a unique venue with many recreational opportunities including a petting farm, equestrian, kids’ parties, summer camps, paintball, restaurant and pizza, outdoor weddings, BBQ, festivals, and farming.

The property allowed kids to experience the classic farmyard animals they learn about in school up close. The property even housed its own indoor carousel and Ferris wheel. Overall, it was a fun and sweet experience for everyone in the family within the nature of Mount Bethel, PA. However, in 2016, Apple Blossom Village closed its doors.

Fast forward to 2020, and the original dream has transitioned to build the property into a brewery, restaurant, catering facility, and a local market. The unique property offered the family a chance to build on their dreams by providing an excellent customer experience at the brewery and restaurant for the local community.

The Brewery

Allegheny Creek Brewing currently utilizes a 3.5 BBL brewing system with three 3.5 BBL fermenters and one 7 BBl fermenter. The brewery is housed in a separate building on the property, which was once the batting cage facility at Apple Blosson Village.

Adjacent to the brewery is the taproom, which seats about 100 with 10 taps for beer. As we learned, the brewery plans to offer 5 readily available core beers along with 5 rotational and seasonal offerings. They will offer Pennsylvania-made wine from local vineyards and eventually plan to offer local PA spirits as well. The taproom is completed with a kitchen where they offer a gastropub-style menu (see all of the offerings here) with small bites, pretzel twists, nachos with short ribs, cheesesteaks, and more!

One room over, they have an event center, with seating for around 300. And adjacent to that, if you can believe it, is another room with seating for about 75-100. In 2022, Allegheny Creek will look to launch the second phase on the property, which will include full utilization of the event center. They plan to host a wide variety of brewery events, while also offering catering for outside events and weddings. Outside, the brewery has a large beer garden, with seating for around 200 with a stage for live music to play on weekends.

What styles of beers will Allegheny Creek Brewing focus on?

As mentioned above, they plan to offer a variety of beers. The brewery has already been producing a steady line of staple beers such as a pilsner, stout, wheat, IPA, and hazy IPA. A rotation of seasonal beers are planned as well. The Correll’s Godson, Ryan Correll, has taken over as head brewer and has been a homebrewer for many years. One of their main staple beers “Golden Godson Pilsner” was named after him.

The brewery has a canning line on-site, with the intention of offering canned beer to-go shortly. The plan is to can 3 beers to start, and have 4 packs of 16oz cans. They will be filling crowlers at the taproom as well and will be looking to get some beers out to restaurants and local wineries in the future.

As you can see the team at Allegheny Creek Brewing Company has a lot on their horizon. To keep up with all of their growth be sure to follow them on social media at their Facebook and Instagram pages.
