Bullfrog Brewery is celebrating three decades in Williamsport this year, and the longtime downtown brewery is marking the occasion with a big anniversary block party.
The Bullfrog 30th Block Party will take place Saturday, September 19, from noon to midnight in downtown Williamsport along Fourth Street. The event will feature craft beer, food, local vendors, family activities, and live music throughout the day.
There is also a charitable component to the celebration. $1 from every beer sold during the day will be donated to the Uptown Music Collective, a Williamsport organization dedicated to music education.
Bullfrog’s History
Bullfrog Brewery first opened its doors in August 1996 in downtown Williamsport. From the beginning, the brewery built its identity around a “focal on local” philosophy, combining its own beer with locally focused food, live music and a commitment to supporting the surrounding community.
Over the past 30 years, Bullfrog has become one of Pennsylvania’s better-known independent breweries, earning a reputation particularly for Belgian-inspired ales, wild ales, sour beers and barrel-aged releases. Some of its best-known beers include Le Roar Grrrz, Rood Bruin, Old Gold and Jong Bruin, along with a wide variety of farmhouse, fruited and other specialty beers.
The brewery has also collected plenty of hardware along the way. Bullfrog beers have earned medals at competitions including the World Beer Cup and Great American Beer Festival, with Unhommage À La Vallée d’Or winning gold at the 2004 World Beer Cup, Trois Pain Triple taking silver that same year, Beekeeper earning gold at the 2008 GABF and The Jaspers winning bronze at the 2010 GABF.
Le Roar Grrrz has become one of Bullfrog’s signature beers over the years. The barrel-aged wild ale draws inspiration from Belgian gueuze and lambic, with different versions featuring fruits such as cherries, raspberries, strawberries, and elderberries. Some releases spend several years aging before they are ready to be enjoyed.
That combination of creativity, patience, and a willingness to push the boundaries of traditional beer has helped make Bullfrog a standout in Pennsylvania’s craft beer scene. Three decades later, the brewery continues to give beer drinkers plenty of reasons to make a stop at The Frog.
