Adam Harris Named New Executive Director Of Brewers Of PA

The Brewers of Pennsylvania, the state’s official brewers guild, has named Adam Harris, the former Chair of Pennsylvania’s House Liquor Control Committee, and Deputy Director of the BOP since 2019, as the organization’s new Executive Director.

In addition to leading association efforts on membership, operations, and professional development, Harris will also serve as the main point of contact for industry advocacy and government affairs, both state and federal.

It is a tremendous honor to be leading such an amazing group of men and women who work hard every day to make Pennsylvania the greatest beer state in the country. Since its creation a decade ago, the Brewers of PA has grown and improved every year and I hope to continue to build upon that tradition. 2020 was obviously an incredibly difficult year for the brewing, restaurant, and hospitality industries, but I do believe we have grown closer together and closer to our customers during this challenging time. I look forward to working not only with brewers but with our other industry partners as well as we begin the long process of recovering from this devastating pandemic. – Adam Harris, Executive Director

Prior to joining the BOP as Deputy Director in January 2019, Harris spent 16 years as a member of the PA House of Representatives and four years as a legislative staffer bringing his total Capitol experience to over 20 years. As Chair of the House Liquor Control Committee, Harris helped usher in many much-needed pro-consumer/pro-beer reforms to the state’s antiquated liquor laws.

Act 166 of 2016 allowed beer distributors to sell six-packs (and down to the single unit and growlers, as well) and allowed PA brewers to promote their products, by allowing PA wineries and distillers to also sell Pennsylvania beers at their locations. He also received the Brewers of Pennsylvania Legislative Champion Award in 2017.

Dan LaBert, the Brewers of Pennsylvania founding and long time Executive Director, announced his 2020 resignation plans to the board of directors in December of 2018. This allowed the Brewers of Pennsylvania to hire Harris as Deputy Director in January 2019 and strategically onboard him regarding the day-to-day activities, BOP strategic plans, and all advocacy efforts. Dan LaBert led the BOP for 10 years (2011-2021) with his leadership and advocacy of craft beer throughout the State. While LaBert will be missed, Harris’ leadership and vision bring a new and exciting chapter to the ongoing story of the BOP.
