Bald Birds Brewing has closed its original Audubon taproom after eight years, marking the end of the location where the brewery got its start. The last day for the taproom was Sunday, August 30th.

Bald Birds officially opened in Audubon on September 15, 2018. The taproom was a longtime fixture in the local community and helped launch the brewery’s larger brewing operation.

For the brewery, the decision is bittersweet. Bald Birds shared the following message:

“Eight years in Audubon gave us more than we could have asked for. It’s where this business started. We had great customers!  Awesome people who became regulars, then became friends, who celebrated birthdays and engagements and ordinary weekend nights with us, and who showed up for us through some genuinely hard stretches. And we had a great community around us, one that took a chance on a new brewery and never stopped showing up. Closing the taproom is bittersweet, but what we’re feeling most is gratitude. Thank you, Audubon!”

While Audubon was the beginning, Bald Birds has expanded over the years. In 2020, the brewery opened its large production facility and taproom in Jersey Shore, PA, at the former 150,000-plus-square-foot industrial facility on Shaffer Lane. The site includes a 90,000-square-foot production brewery, allowing it to grow its brewing and manufacturing capabilities.

Bald Birds also operated locations in Manayunk and King of Prussia. The Manayunk location opened in 2019 and closed in 2021. The King of Prussia location was the site of former Workhorse Brewing, which closed. This was closed by Bald Birds on July 31, 2026, as the brewery continued shifting its focus toward production and manufacturing with B3 Beverage Company.

That production business has become even more significant through B3 Beverage Company. Recently, B3 announced plans to acquire Yards Brewing, further changing the landscape of Philadelphia’s and Pennsylvania’s craft beer industry.
