Tröegs Independent Brewing is teaming up with the Pennsylvania SPCA (PSPCA) to launch “PALs With Your Pal,” a new initiative designed to raise awareness of pet adoption and help rescue animals find loving homes. Throughout September and October, Tröegs will spotlight one adoptable pet each week in partnership with the PSPCA. To encourage potential pet owners to take the next step, the Hershey, Pa.-based independent, family-owned brewery will cover the upfront adoption costs for each featured pet.

“Our family has been a big supporter of dog rescues for many years,” says Tröegs brewmaster and co-founding brother John Trogner. “The goal is to help the PSPCA find homes for some of its sweetest dogs who just need a second chance.”

The initiative takes its name from Tröegs’ latest year-round offering, Pennsylvania Lager, or PA Lager. Inspired by the easy-drinking lagers popular during the pre-Prohibition era, Pennsylvania Lager is a crisp, refreshing 5% ABV beer made for enjoying with good company. Since its debut last year, the lager has grown into Tröegs’ second best-selling beer, behind Perpetual IPA.

“Animals come into our shelter every day looking for a fresh start,” says Gillian Kocher, PSPCA director of public relations. “Since Pennsylvania has one of the largest adoption rates in the country, we’re grateful for Tröegs’ support in helping some of our lovable pets find their forever homes.”
Pet lovers can follow Tröegs on Instagram and Facebook or visit the PSPCA website throughout September and October to see weekly profiles of the featured adoptable pets.
