Allegheny City Brewing teamed up with the eagerly anticipated Fermata Brewing Company for a fresh beer release on December 2nd.

The established Deutchtown neighborhood brewery, which just celebrated its 5 year anniversary, joined friends from Fermata to create a festive winter brew worth celebrating. Fermata will be located in Ambridge and plans to open around February.

Winter Solstice is a celebration of the collaboration between these two Pittsburgh-based breweries. The Cascadian Dark Ale is brewed with Columbus and Chinook hops. The festive flare arises from the addition of fresh spruce tips. Coming in a 6.4% ABV, this beer (or two) lends itself well to long nights of holiday celebrations. The aroma is resinous pine and roasted malts. The dark liquid is roasty with bright, orange-like citrus, fading to some light caramel notes and dissipating bitterness.

This beer certainly leaves you wanting more from Fermata and gives you another reason to be jolly this season.
