Brewers Of Pennsylvania: Advancing PA Craft Beer Forward

The Brewers Of Pennsylvania, the states official beer guild, founded in 2010 brings together leaders of Pennsylvania based breweries and businesses that support brewing and  members with a mission to promote and protect the brewing industry throughout Pennsylvania.

December 2010 found just over a dozen Pennsylvania breweries convening at Victory Brewing Company for meetings that would mark the foundation of the Brewers Of Pennsylvania. Fast forward less than a decade later and over 150 breweries in Pennsylvania call themselves BoPA members!

Recently we learned more about what membership means as we were in attendance during their 2019 annual meeting at Troegs Brewery. Many of the members converged to Harrisburg for the meeting to discuss the latest issues and trends happening in the state. And with the recent news of the Craft Beer Tax hitting Pennsylvania, there was much to discuss.

Along with many guest speakers from breweries, legal experts also shared insight into many of the issues facing the industry. Leveraging their experience to help the audience better understand some of the nuances that the legal side of brewing presents.

The Brewers of PA strives to advocate for and promote awareness of BOP members; to increase the visibility of local beers through marketing, events, and consumer education; and to foster a healthy, ethical, and growth-focused beer industry.

As the Brewers of PA says; “Whether you are a brewery in planning or an award-winning brewery, the BOP increases your potential for excellence. We are a tight-knit community of brewers, service providers and beer enthusiasts working together to advance the industry and craft throughout the state.”

With the recent hiring of Adam Harris (former Chair of House Liquor Control Committee) as New Deputy Director they have taken another major step towards propelling Pennsylvania craft beer forward.

The Brewers of PA host multiple events through the year. Between their annual meeting, the Meeting of the Malts and the brewers symposium there are many opportunities for BoPA members to come together for the greater good of Pennsylvania beer.

Feel free to learn more about the BoPA on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter or their website. Are you a brewery who is interested in being a member? Learn about member benefits here.
