Fifteen years is a long time in Pennsylvania’s craft beer industry, and Helltown Brewing is celebrating the milestone with a full day of live music, food, local vendors, giveaways, and special beer releases.

Founded in 2011, Helltown will celebrate its 15th anniversary on Saturday, September 12, at its original location at 13 Henry C. Frick Street in Mount Pleasant. The brewery is calling the celebration “15 at the 666,” with the party starting at noon.

Every draft purchase will earn an entry into hourly door prize drawings, with prizes including beer, local maker baskets, and anniversary merchandise. A vendor market will run from 1 to 4 p.m., while Andrew Bicsey plays from 1 to 4 p.m. and Abacus Jones performs from 6 to 9 p.m.

Food will be provided by Iron City Eats, one of Helltown’s longest-running food truck partners. There will also be a local baseball team raffle, with a growler given away every hour.

Beer Releases

Antiquity’s Ale is a decade in the making, crafted with pilsner malt, wheat and whole aged hops. It blends select 2016 and 2018 batches for a 2026 bottling and has spent years maturing into a complex, tart ale with notes of earth and oak. It will be available on draft and to go.

Helltown will also release Sanctuary Stout, a very limited cellared stout from the brewery’s 5th anniversary celebration.

Looking Back at 15 Years

Helltown Brewing was founded in 2011 in Mount Pleasant, where the brewery still operates today. From that original location, the brewery began expanding across Western Pennsylvania, adding a taproom in Export, followed by Houston in 2020.

In 2019, Helltown announced plans to join the 1700 Penn Avenue development in Pittsburgh’s Strip District. The space eventually became a Helltown taproom, and in 2022 the brewery took over the entire taproom operation, making it an official Helltown location.

Helltown also expanded into Butler, opening its fifth taproom at 137 Fairway Lane in 2023. Today, the brewery has five taprooms in Mount Pleasant, Export, Houston, Butler, and the Strip District, with brewing taking place in Mount Pleasant and Export.

Along the way, Helltown also made a major move in 2018 when it acquired Rivertowne Brewing, bringing the longtime Western Pennsylvania brand into the Helltown family. Helltown continues to produce Rivertowne beers alongside its own lineup.

Now, five years later, the brewery is back where it started, celebrating 15 years of Helltown Brewing.
