According to a recent press release the Pennsylvania Department of Labor has forced Bald Birds Brewing to pay back over 650,000 in unpaid wages they owed employees.

The action began when L&I’s Bureau of Labor Law Compliance began receiving persistent complaints regarding chronic payroll delays. Following a thorough review and formal audit of payroll records, state investigators uncovered widespread violations by Bald Birds Brewery across its locations in Audubon, King of Prussia, and Jersey Shore.

The audit revealed that the employer repeatedly failed to issue timely paychecks over the course of several months. In the most severe instances leading up to the state intervention, many staff members went without pay for five consecutive weeks.

Under Pennsylvania state labor laws, long delays in payroll are not merely administrative hiccups—they constitute serious violations that harm employees and undermine fair labor practices.

Through a formal agreement brokered by the Department of Labor & Industry, the state secured a full recovery package totaling $647,009.87 for the affected workforce:

• Unpaid Back Wages: $582,782 was recovered and disbursed directly to all 124 impacted workers to make up for missed pay periods.

• Liquidated Damages: An additional $64,227.87 in financial damages was secured for 108 of those employees as compensation for the hardships caused by long-overdue compensation.

The news comes as Bald Birds finds itself once again in the spotlight. This past summer they closed both their Audubon and King Of Prussia taprooms.

Among all of the news above, Bald Birds has faced recent financial troubles as well. In February 2026, the property’s landlord, MSM 970 Rittenhouse Rd., LLC, filed a major legal complaint against Bald Birds in the Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas (MSM 970 Rittenhouse Rd., LLC v. Bald Birds Brewing Company, LLC, Case No. 2026-03287).

The lawsuit was filed as a complaint in Confession of Judgment, seeking an enormous $1,515,623.33 in unpaid rent, lease obligations, and associated damages by the brewing company.

In addition, Brewbound recently reported the initial B3 Beverage company that Bald Birds started is facing it’s own problems. According to the report Two Roads is no longer a part of the beverage company and one of the former partners is seeking financial damages against B3 as well.
