Brewery Review: Endless Brewing (Montrose, PA)

Written By Breweries In PA Contributor Gary Cook (@12VoltBeers on Instagram)

Endless Brewing out of Montrose PA isn’t the easiest place to get to visit, depending on where you are coming from. But with its location in the rolling Endless Mountains of Northeast PA, you probably won’t mind the drive.

I’ve wanted to go there for awhile now and finally got the opportunity to check the place out.

The brewery is situated in a beautiful plot of land in Montrose. Surrounded by farmland and complete with their own garden, Endless has a modest taproom inside a metal pole barn. The place was pretty busy by the time I got there an hour before closing. See inside the unique brewery for yourself:

There’s truly a local vibe here that the owners Jon and Morgan have created. You probably won’t have cell service and the brewery doesn’t have Wi-Fi. But you’re here to experience the beer. It would be odd at this place if you were just staring at your phone the whole time. This is one of the few spots that people expect to have some conversation with you instead of being self absorbed.

Endless Brewing has been in business for 6 years. Jon Winans started as a homebrewer and built the current location on his family’s land. There’s usually about eight beers on draft as well as a cider. Half of them were on the hoppy side.

Here’s a list of some of the beers that I tried…

Bombshell Blonde IPA – 6.9% American IPA, 69 IBUs. Traditional West Coast Style IPA. Light malt balanced with bitterness. Enough hops for aroma but nothing overpowering. Their flagship beer
Grasshopper Pale Ale – 5.2% Pale Ale, 37 IBUs. An easy drinking pale ale. Slightly hoppy and sessionable.
Saison Trois – Saison 7.6%, 31 IBUs. Floral, spicy and slightly fruity. A balanced farmhouse ale.
Bombshell Gone Berzerk – American IPA 7.2%, 69 IBUs. This is the a version of the Bombshell Blonde that went crazy in the fermenter. As a result it ended up higher in alcohol. They changed up the hops for for dry hopping.
Painter Hill Porter – American Porter 4.4%. A traditional American style porter.

The beers here a worth checking out. I noticed that they had a New England Style IPA coming out soon and was a little bummed that I wouldn’t be able to try it at the time of the visit. Might be worth another trip back.

The scenery and simple pace of the area add to the whole experience stopping by. This isn’t a place that will be hyping its next can release but all the beers are well made. Endless Brewing offers a cool getaway for the day with a little something for everyone.
